Wayne Rooney names four things Marcus Rashford must do to fix Manchester United problem

Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney reckons Marcus Rashford needs to make four changes to his game so he can spark back into tip-top form at Old Trafford and beyond. It has been a challenging season for the England star with just six goals and five assists to show from his 32 appearances in all competitions.

Rashford, 26, plundered 30 goals for United last season. His return has significantly dipped since then, though.

With first-choice striker Rasmus Hojlund (muscular) injured for the next few weeks, Rashford has led the line for United in the last two matches. However, those outings have been met with further blanks as former teammate Rooney explains how the forward can get back firing ahead of Sunday afternoon's Manchester derby.

Rooney was on punditry duties for BBC Sport when his former side defeated Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Wednesday night. He said: "When you're playing as a No.9 you need the team to create chances for you.

"I don't think we created that many chances for him. But I do think he needs to be more ruthless, he needs to be a bit more patient and stay in the middle of the goal.

"You have to be ruthless, the chance he had with his left foot, I'm sure he'll be disappointed with that, but you just want to see a little bit more. I think it's a number of factors [why Rashford's been struggling]."

Rooney, who scored a record 253 goals for United in 13 years with the club, continued: "Confidence is the main one, when you're playing you're scoring goals, you feel like you're going to score in every game. When you're not scoring that many - or regularly - you need to get that
