Wayne Rooney and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tipped for next Burnley boss after Sean Dyche sack

Ex-Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is being tipped to become the next manager of Burnley after they parted company with Sean Dyche on Good Friday.

Dyche spent a decade at the Lancashire club and managed to get the Clarets promoted from the Championship in 2013/14 and 2015/16. However, recent form at Burnley have plummeted them towards relegation and Dyche has now left the club.

United's opponents on Saturday, Norwich City, beat Dyche's side 2-0 in what proved be the former centre back's last match for the club. In a statement on Friday morning, chairman of Burnley Alan Pace said: "Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the club over the last decade.

"During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community. However, results this season have been disappointing and, while this was an incredibly difficult decision, with eight crucial games of the campaign remaining, we feel a change is needed to give the squad the best possible chance of retaining its Premier League status. The process of replacing Sean has begun and further announcements will be made to supporters in due course."

Bookmakers BetVictor have put together the odds on who they believe will be the next manager at Turf Moor. United legend Rooney is currently second favourite for the position at the Clarets and is priced at 4/1. Only Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder is better priced at 6/4.
