Wayne Rooney and Harry Maguire lead tributes to Manchester United staff member Kath Phipps
Wayne Rooney, Harry Maguire and David de Gea are among those to pay tribute to Kath Phipps.
Manchester United announced the death of popular staff member Phipps aged 85 on Thursday and there has been an immediate reaction on social media from those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Phipps began working for the club in the late 1960s. She worked in a variety of roles over 55 years and was an ever-present through decades but her contribution was beyond her job title.
There has been an outpouring of tributes to Phipps from former players following the announcement of her passing and United legend Rooney was one of the first to send a message.

Reacting to the sad news on Instagram, Rooney wrote to the backdrop of three pictures: "The heart and soul of Manchester United. Everything what the club is about. A legend who will be greatly missed. Thanks for the memories Kathy. My thoughts are with family and friends."
Harry Magurie said: "A legend that will never be forgotten. I will miss you. We will miss you. RIP Kath."
Patrice Evra said: "Losing a family member is never easy."
David May said: "So sad to hear the passing of this wonderful lady, whenever you walked into the recpetion she would always greet you with a lovely hug and big kiss. RIP Kath a true loss to the United family."
David de Gea said: "Such a wonderful woman. Thanks for taking care of everyone."
United have said Phipps ensured visitors to Carrington were greeted by the "cheeriest of welcomes" and that her positive attitude "helped set the mood for everyone entering the training ground."
The club have also described Phipps as a "one-woman
