Wayne Mardle raves about 'off the scale' Scottish darts talent who can 'beat anyone'

Wayne Mardle, a five-time World Championship semi-finalist and now a respected darts commentator, has praised an unexpected star in the sport.

He took to social media to express his admiration for Scottish star Cameron Menzies, who only gained his PDC Tour Card in 2022 but has already made a mark on the game. "Oh and let's mention Cameron Menzies," Mardle wrote. "As talent goes, that man is off the scale. He's just a little erratic you could say. He can beat anyone at anytime if he can keep all reigned in." Menzies, who is dating fellow darts player Fallon Sherrock, also works as a plumber when he's not competing.

The talented player from Milton Keynes switched to the PDC from the rival BDO in 2018, but spent his first few years on the Challenge Tour. However, since 2022, his game has seen a boost in results, and Mardle's post suggests that just a bit more consistency is all he needs to reach the next level.

'Hawaii 501' also mentioned that he has a lot of time for Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena following his recent comeback. This comes after he praised 18 year old Leighton Bennett, who has seen his own improvement after being hailed as the original Luke Littler when he beat Phil Taylor in an exhibition at age 12.

Menzies reached the third round of last year's UK Open but was defeated 6-2 by Ian White, marking his best finish at a televised major tournament so far. Mardle clearly sees potential in Menzies given his occasional brilliant performances, but only 'Cammy' can show whether the praise is deserved.
