'Way too good!' — Man United fans in frenzy after Kobbie Mainoo's latest U18 masterclass

Kobbie Mainoo has been hailed by Manchester United supporters after his individual performance for the club's Under-18 side against Blackburn.

Travis Binnion's team thrashed Blackburn 6-1 in the U18 Premier League encounter, with goals from James Nolan, Manni Norkett, Adam Berry, Ethan Williams and Maximillian Oyedele. However, despite not getting on the scoresheet, it was the performance of United youngster Mainoo that got fans talking,. with the Stockport-born midfielder dictating play from the middle of the park.

The 17-year-old — who was promoted into Binnion’s Under-18s squad in 2021 — played a big part in United's second goal on Sunday, picking the ball up in midfield before beating three opposition players and unleashing a shot on goal. His effort smashed against the post and allowed Norkett to smartly convert the rebound.

Mainoo then grabbed an assist for the Reds' third goal of the clash, chipping the ball over the Blackburn defence and allowing Norkett to grab his second after a simple pass across the box.

United supporters were encouraged by his display against Blackburn, taking to Twitter to praise the young playmaker:

Mainoo scored twice in the Red's run to the 2022 FA Youth Cup final, scoring a header at Old Trafford against Everton after a clever finish away at Reading in the fourth round.

He played a crucial role in the team's triumph over Nottingham Forest in the final as United lifted the trophy for the first time in a decade.
