After several years of trying to avert the slump in performance, Williams Racing, one of Formula 1's oldest teams, finally managed to turn its fortunes around in 2021. The upturn was long overdue, but it could not have happened to a more deserving team.
Having scored a good haul of points throughout the season, the team, like many other teams in F1, is looking to 2022 as an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start afresh. The new season will see the introduction of new regulations, accompanied by new cars that look vastly different to the ones of seasons before.
As the next team to have launched their cars, Williams showcased both the design of their new car and the livery they'd be using in 2022. According to CEO and team principal Jost Capito, the team's 2022 car, the FW44, reflects their proud British heritage.
He said: "The design really reflects our brand definition we re-did last year, especially when you look at the various shades of blue with our diamond scheme. The little touch of red is there because we are a proud British team."
