QPR receive player blow ahead of Hull City and Blackpool fixtures

Ever-present Queens Park Rangers defender Rob Dickie is set to miss the club’s next two Championship matches due to suspension, the Hoops have confirmed.

Having played in every single minute and started in every single match of the current league campaign, the 25-year-old will now step aside for the upcoming fixtures against Hull City and Blackpool.

That is because Dickie has accumulated 10 yellow cards before the cut-off which sees a suspension no longer applicable, meaning that he’s picked up a two-game ban for his troubles.

Dickie has been a key figure in Mark Warburton’s side this season, scoring in the opening two matches of the 2021-22 campaign against Millwall and Hull and has been a part of 10 clean sheets in the process.

It’s now expected that January signing Dion Sanderson will take the place of Dickie for at least the next two Championship outings, with the Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster still yet to make his first start for the R’s in the league.

The Verdict

Losing Dickie will be a massive blow to QPR’s chances against the Tigers and the Seasiders.

Of course having him in the side never guarantees a win but he does make them stronger at the back and provides a threat from attacking set-pieces.

But despite Dickie’s imminent absence, they have a very solid defender ready to deputise in Dion Sanderson, who has been biding his time and waiting for his chance.

Sanderson may play that well alongside Jimmy Dunne and Yoann Barbet that the trio get an extended run together – it would be unimaginable to see Dickie out of the team for longer than these next two games but it could feasibly happen.
