Watch: Moment Blackpool Pleasure Beach visitors get stuck at top of 235ft The Big One ride

Thrill-seekers were left stuck at the top of the UK's tallest rollercoaster after it seemingly malfunctioned. Footage shared on social media showed the moment that people had to climb up the side of Blackpool Pleasure Beach's 'The Big One' to help the stranded passengers.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon (May 15) and follows a similar incident in April of last year. The ride is 235ft tall and the issue seemingly arose as it ascended to its peak.

The video was shared by someone who had just had their turn on the ride, LancsLive reports. They shared the video on Twitter, writing: "When you’ve just got off the Big One and the next car gets stuck at the top."

LancsLive says Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been approached for comment following the incident. On June 2, last year, a dad and a five-year-old boy were among a group of people left stranded at the top of the wooden, twin-track Grand National ride at the theme park. In a scathing post on social media he slammed the attraction and called the ordeal 'absolutely farcical' after being offered free water, the Mirror reported at the time.

Staff at Pleasure Beach attraction had to climb up the ride, which was built in 1935 and stands 62 feet (19m) high, to escort nervous riders back to the ground.
