Watch: Colombian commentator bursts into song after Luis Diaz’s goal

Luis Diaz has become the latest Liverpool sensation since joining from Porto in January and judging from the excitable commentary on his goal against Norwich his compatriots are just as excited as Reds fans about his early success on Merseyside. 

After Diaz’s brilliant Copa America for Colombia in the summer of 2021 and 18 goals in 26 appearances for Porto in the first half of the 2021-22 season, Liverpool decided to sign the 25-year-old for a reported initial €45million in January.

In his first four appearances for the Reds, he has settled in exceptionally well, impressing with his pace, skill and directness.

Before Liverpool’s Champions League last-16 first-leg game against Inter Milan, manager Jurgen Klopp said of Diaz: “Luis is a top boy, a top-class player. He showed that already in two appearances he had for us…

“He is an incredible player, his joy and love for football is so obvious.

“When you see him training, he cannot stop smiling. I have never had a player like this. It’s crazy. We are so, so happy to have him here. It’s absolutely great.

“We expect a lot from him in the future. Now already but in the future as well. I have a good feeling it will be a really nice story with Luis at Liverpool.”

Diaz came on against Inter and did well, earning himself a start on Saturday in the Premier League match against Norwich. It was just his second start for the club, and the Colombian marked it with a goal.

With the Reds already 2-1 up and around 10 minutes of normal time to go, Jordan Henderson played a sensational ball through to Diaz.

Diaz made no mistake, killing the ball’s momentum with a single touch before producing a delightful left-footed dink to beat the goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
