Ex-Liverpool man: Title race was never going to be ‘a one-club procession’

Danny Murphy claims “a one-club procession was never on the cards” after Liverpool pulled Manchester City closer in the Premier League title race.

The Reds came from a goal down to beat Norwich City 3-1 on Saturday afternoon before Harry Kane scored a late winner as Tottenham beat City 3-2 in the day’s late kick-off.

Those results saw Liverpool close the gap on City to six points with a game in hand on Pep Guardiola’s men, while the two sides still have to meet at the Etihad Stadium on April 9.

Former Liverpool midfielder Murphy says he received “a bit of stick” for claiming the Premier League title race wasn’t over and can’t wait for a “fascinating” run-in.

“I received a bit of stick when I said last week that the title race wasn’t over,” Murphy wrote in his Mail on Sunday column.

“But Saturday’s swing underlines why you can’t hand out the Premier League prizes in January or February.
