The Scuderia AlphaTauri Formula 1 team is the next to unveil their car for the 2022 F1 season. Dubbed the AT03, the naming convention signals the third season that the team has been running under its new name. Between 2006 and the end of the 2019 season, the team was known as Toro Rosso, but changed to AlphaTauri ahead of the 2020 season.

Over the years, the team has had varying degrees of success but registered two wins in the time it's been competing in F1. At the 2009 Italian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel gifted the team their first victory in very wet conditions. Eleven years later, in 2020, at the same venue but now under the new name, Pierre Gasly took the team's second win and the first of his career.

Having had many strong races in 2021, the team threatened for several podium positions. Now, with the new regulations taking effect and all teams starting on zero, AlphaTauri hopes it can join sister-team Oracle Red Bull Racing at the front of the field.

Towards the end of the 2020 season, AlphaTauri announced that they would no longer require Daniil Kvyat. The Russian, who has been part of the Red Bull programme for many years, failed to put in notable performances, which forced the team to acquire the services of another driver.
