Warrington Wolves set to land NRL prop duo as huge squad overhaul continues

Warrington Wolves' eye-catching overhaul of their squad is set to continue with the arrivals of Paul Vaughan and Josh McGuire. The Daily Telegraph claim the pair are set to join the club next season and Rugby League Live understands the pair are incredibly close to putting pen to paper on deals with the club.

Vaughan is currently in his tenth season in the NRL in a career that has seen him play for both New South Wales and Australia. Currently at Canterbury Bulldogs, he is set to be joined at the Halliwell Jones Stadium by fellow teammate Matt Dufty in a recruitment drive that is quickly becoming one of the most high-profile in Super League history.

Vaughan, who has also played for Italy, played in the 2018 and 2019 State of Origin series and then represented the Kangaroos after being part of two back-to-back Blues winning sides.

Castleford Tigers close in on landing Warrington Wolves star

Also set to arrive is McGuire, a 250-game NRL veteran. Another prop, he has also played for Australia and for Queensland. He was part of the Kangaroos side that won the 2017 World Cup Final against England and was part of Origin for five years.

Now at St George, he is close to agreeing on a deal with the Wire to become part of a completely new-look pack in 2023. The club has already signed Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson while Thomas Mikaele has already arrived to aid their cause this year.

Furthermore, it casts doubt over the current Warrington players all off-contract at the end of the season. Jason Clark, Matt Davis, Rob Mulhern, Billy Magoulias and Jack Hughes are all in the final year of their existing deals. Gareth Widdop is expected to join Castleford Tigers while Mike Cooper has signed for Wigan Warriors.
