Warri Wolves eye Super Eight ticket as NNL picks Enugu for playoff

Warri Wolves FC

Warri Wolves FC is targeting one of the tickets to this year’s Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight competition as the second tier competition’s season ends this weekend.

The Seasiders, as the club is called, were relegation-bound at the end of the first stanza of the season following a series of poor results. But the club turned things around for good after recruiting some new players into their fold.

Warri Wolves FC currently occupies the third position with 28 points, and will face Solution FC of Anambra State this weekend in Awka.

Chairman of Warri Wolves FC, Neville Bekederemo, told The Guardian, yesterday, that the club would do its best to win the match in Awka. He said: “A win will take us to 31 points and second on the table. But that will depend on the outcome of the home match involving Inter Lagos.”

I must commend the players for their dedication. I also thank the state government for believing in the club,” he stated.

Before the end of the NNL League at the weekend, Warri Wolves FC will begin its campaign in the FA Cup, with the Round of 64 beginning on May 2.

Meanwhile, the NNL board has announced Enugu as host of this year’s Super Eight playoff billed to hold from May 23 to 30, 2024.

NNL Chairman, George Aluo, said, yesterday, that the league board is happy that Enugu will host the competition and commended Governor Peter Mbah and the state’s Commissioner For Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ekwerenmadu, for accepting to host the championship.

Aluo disclosed that the state government has also promised that all
