Walshe and Wylie call time on Monaghan careers
Monaghan footballers Colin Walshe and Drew Wylie have called time on their inter-county careers.
The pair were Ulster champions with the Farney men over lengthy spells in white and blue but have battled injuries in recent seasons.
Walshe is a former captain of the county and a 2013 All-Star, while Wylie has shown his longevity with impressive displays for Ballybay in the club championship this season.
Manager Vinny Corey has praised their contributions with Monaghan, telling the Irish News: "I remember playing in the full-back line a lot of days and if you had Drew on one side of you and Colin on the other, you couldn't ask for better.
"Drew was a great team-mate, they both were, and two great players for Monaghan. They owe the county nothing."
Corey's side face Down in the opening Dr McKenna Cup match tonight, ahead of a season where they have been assured of the services of another veteran Conor McManus, with the All-Star forward confirming another year of inter-county service.
