Wales youngsters secure commanding Six Nations win over Scotland

Wales U20s secured their first U20 Six Nations win with a commanding 31-21 victory over Scotland U20s at the Arms Park.

Tries from Luke Evans, Bailey Cutts, Dylan Scott and Tom Howe got Richard Whiffin's side over the line, while Carwyn Leggatt-Jones and Lloyd Lucas kicked 11 points between them. Campbell Waugh, Jack Marshall and Jackson Rennie scored Scotland's tries.

Wales started strongly and after a period of pressure on the Scotland line second-row Evans powered over from short-range.

The Wales pack were on top with tighthead prop Jac Pritchard winning penalties for the hosts from the scrum.

Wales' forward dominance led to Leggatt-Jones extending their lead from the kicking tee.

Scotland thought they had scored their first try when the Wales defence fell for a dummy from scrum-half Hamish MacArthur who slid over for the line.

Initially the TMO gave the referee the thumbs up for the try but just before Wales took the restart, the referee spotted a neck roll on Caio James in the lead-up, and the score was subsequently disallowed.

After a scrappy period Wales regrouped with Leggatt-Jones smashing over a penalty from out wide to give the hosts a commanding 19-0 lead at the interval.

Scotland started the second half strongly and after Wales conceded a penalty at the scrum the visitors had a lineout five metres out from the line.

A well-worked move at the lineout sent outside-half Jake Dalziel through a gap before he offloaded from the point of contact to put Campbell Waugh over for the visitor's first try.

But Wales hit back with an outstanding charge up the touchline from Deian Gwynne. The Gloucester backrower failed to offload to an unmarked Howe but the ball was recycled before Gwynne made another huge carry to get his side
