Wales U20s destroy Scotland in stunning seven-try display: Highlights

Wales ran in seven tries as they made a hugely impressive start to their Summer Series campaign out in Italy. Byron Hayward’s young charges had the bonus point in the bag before half-time in the heat of Treviso and dominated most aspects of the game.

There were two touchdowns from Oli Andrew, with fellow winger Harri Houston, prop Rhys Barratt, flanker Ethan Fackrell, scrum-half Morgan Lloyd and back row Morgan Morse also crossing the whitewash.

Wales had the upper hand at the breakdown, where Cardiff openside Fackrell excelled, and posed a real threat behind with centre pairing Joe Hawkins and Mason Grady making major inroads in midfield and the wide men adding the finishing gloss, while replacement scrum-half Lloyd delivered a big impact after coming on as an early sub.

After a disappointing Six Nations where they won just one of their five matches, this was a really encouraging display at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo where the temperature was up to 32 degrees Celsius, requiring regular water breaks. Just like the conditions, Wales were red hot from the outset.

They made a dream start as they opened the scoring after just two minutes, with Dragons winger Andrew producing a fine finish. Collecting a cross kick from skipper Hawkins, he showed good strength to hold off opposite number Ryan Daley and pirouette over in the right-hand corner.

Hawkins’ team stretched their lead on 17 minutes when Cardiff loosehead prop Rhys Barratt picked up from a ruck and ran in from some 20 metres, going outside the covering last man as he demonstrated both mobility and good feet. Scotland hit back when hooker Gregor Hiddleston forced his way over from close range, but that was to be their only score of the half.
