'Vital' - Journalist sends big warning to Fosun and Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers need to try and get a striker in before the transfer window closes in September.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking about Wolves’ potential transfer business for the remainder of the transfer window.

It was reported in July by John Percy that Wolves striker Raul Jiménez could be side-lined for up to eight weeks after suffering a knee injury in Bruno Lage’s side’s 3-0 pre-season victory over Besiktas. 

Following Fábio Silva’s loan move to Anderlecht, the club are now left with no fit out-and-out strikers ahead of the Premier League kick-off, and will have to move swiftly in the market to identify a centre-forward.

According to multiple reports, Wolves have identified Bordeaux and South Korea striker Hwang Ui-jo as a potential striker target this summer, with the club having a list of forward targets that they are currently weighing up.

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is also reported to be on Wolves’ striker list, with the club ramping up attempts to bring in an out-and-out number nine this summer, according to Liam Keen.

And O’Rourke believes that it is “vital” that the West Midlands club attempt to sign a striker this summer following Jiménez’s injury.

“I think it’s really vital that they try and get a striker in as you said.

“Jiménez was leading the line last season and although his goal scoring rate wasn’t up to its normal rate, I think, before this injury to Jiménez, they did want to bring a striker in to help.

“He’s a goal scorer in their problems as well, so that’s become even more vital now that they get the right man in, because Jiménez is out for a long period of time.”
