Virgin River season six cast, plot and latest news on Netflix drama

Virgin River fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the beloved Netflix drama for its sixth season, following the two-part Christmas special that aired last November.

Eight months on, we bring you all the latest updates on what to expect from Virgin River's comeback.

Filming for the sixth season of Virgin River kicked off in Vancouver in February 2024, after initial delays due to actors and writers strikes, as well as weather-related issues.

The production team has confirmed that filming concluded as planned at the end of May, meaning the show is now in the post-production phase.

While there's no official release date yet, Deadline reports that the series is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2025, reports.

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith revealed that the upcoming season will comprise 10 episodes, similar to the first three seasons, unlike the fourth and fifth instalments.

As for the cast, viewers can look forward to seeing familiar faces, with Alexandra Breckenridge reprising her role as Mel Monroe and Martin Henderson returning as Jack Sheridan.

Other returning cast members include Tim Matheson as Doc Mullins, Annette O'Toole as Hope McCrea, Benjamin Hollingsworth as Brady, Sarah Dugdale as Lizzie, and Lauren Hammersley as Charmaine Roberts, among others.

John Allen Nelson will also be back as Mel's biological father Everette Reid, following his introduction in the fifth season.

While an official plot summary is yet to be released, showrunner Smith previously hinted at another time jump after last year's Christmas special in a conversation with Deadline.

He also revealed that viewers will finally learn what Everett has to say to Mel in the much-anticipated cliffhanger.
