Virgin River's 'perfect replacement' by the same creator gets huge update for international fans

Fans of Virgin River have another reason to celebrate this week, as they eagerly await the return of Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) to their screens in just a few days.

In addition to the much-awaited sixth season of the popular romance series set to premiere next Thursday (December 19), another small-town drama with an increasing cult following has been confirmed for continuation.

Interestingly, this series not only shares a similar premise but is also penned by Robyn Carr, the same author behind Mel and Jack's adventures.

Sullivan's Crossing, starring Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray, tells the story of a neurosurgeon who returns to her hometown in Nova Scotia to reconnect with her father, only to find more than she expected. The cast also includes Gilmore Girls star Scott Patterson and Canadian actors and musicians Tom Jackson and Andrea Menard.

A Reddit user shared their thoughts about a show with a familiar feel to Virgin River, saying: "Very similar story to VS about a woman who's a neurosurgeon
