Virgin Atlantic passengers fear Las Vegas route from Manchester Airport will be ‘pulled’ after cancellations
Passengers due to fly on the new Virgin Atlantic Route from Manchester Airport to Las Vegas this summer have been hit with a spate of cancellations leading some to doubt the certainty of its future. The seasonal summer route, which launched in June, operates three services a week on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
But nearly every other flight has been cancelled in the past two weeks. Services due to fly on July 21, 26 and 31 were all pulled, while a flight on August 2 has also been cancelled.
Virgin Atlantic told the M.E.N. that a ‘limited number’ of flights have been cancelled in order to ‘protect the summer programme’. They added that they are ‘committed’ to the route.

Yet the cancellations have caused huge uncertainty among passengers with one calling it a ‘nightmare’. Others have suggested that the route will be scrapped completely.
One customer who was due to fly on August 2 told the M.E.N.: “It’s just been a bit of a nightmare. We don’t really know what’s going on and they won’t tell us anything. It’s really frustrating. Looking online the planes look pretty much empty.
“We are now having to fly from Manchester to Heathrow with BA to then catch a flight to Minneapolis and then onto Las Vegas. It’s frustrating as we paid more to fly directly from Manchester, and obviously indirect flights would have been cheaper in advance but now it’s all expensive. We’re keeping the receipts to send to Virgin. “
The passenger, who did not want to be named, is due to fly back with Virgin Atlantic on August 9 but is unsure if the flight will go ahead. They added: “It’s really put a dampener on the start of the holiday. The uncertainty is the worst
