Virgil van Dijk has sent Man City 'extra' Premier League title warning amid Jurgen Klopp exit

By the time May rolls around, Manchester City could be playing the role of party-poopers.

Between now and the end of the campaign, the Premier League will be subjected to the 'Jurgen Klopp Farewell Tour' after the 56-year-old's shock announcement on Friday morning. Already, his final dual with Pep Guardiola has been pencilled into the diary.

For many who are not of a City persuasion, there is already a hope of the 'fairytale finish' for the German manager. His side are still battling on four fronts this season and many hope he can at least bow out with a second Premier League crown.

However, football very rarely provides such 'romantic' moments for fans. A lot of the time, the team that claims it all is the one with the outstanding talent; it is unlikely to ever be decided by destiny alone.

But this is not to say City can expect the title race to flow as it would have had Klopp not made his announcement. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk's comments on Saturday should prove to be the warning the Blues needed to hear.

When asked about the squad's motivation between now and the end of the season, Van Dijk replied: "Of course this is massive, it's massive news in football. For us, it was also a very big day.

"But we have big targets this year and that's definitely stressed by the manager as well. For us and me as well, I want to make sure the rest of the boys think like that too. I think that's the case as well.

"We all want to achieve so much and that mindset was already there since pre-season and that doesn't change. It will maybe even give you an extra boost to do that extra or maybe enjoy it a little
