Vinny Corey and Monaghan carrying no baggage between league games

Monaghan manager Vinny Corey certainly wasn't feeling sorry for himself after early losses in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League, defeats that have now been followed by consecutive victories.

The Ulster side ran out 0-14 to 0-11 victors over the Rossies in Clones on Sunday, an outcome that ended the latter's unbeaten run in the competition, while also propelling Monaghan forward in what is now a congested Division 1 table.

Speaking to RTÉ's Sunday Sport after the game, Corey was overall pleased with his side's performance, as they kept Davy Burke's troops at arms length for the most part.

"The boys worked hard today in what was going to be a really tough encounter," he said.

"Roscommon have been flying high, top of the league on merit and have been playing really well.

"We were looking forward to the game. The boys finished last week really strong, training has been good all week. We came here feeling good and in fairness to the boys they put in a performance for the most part. In fairness they were a few sloppy bits; it was patchy at times.

They dug in well at the end as Roscommon have been finishing games really well and came back at us really strong. The boys dug deep."

Despite the earlier league losses to Armagh and Kerry, Corey was quick to point out that it wasn't all doom and gloom in the camp after the earlier setbacks.
