Vinicius Jr breaks down in tears at Brazil press conference as he is quizzed on racist abuse suffered in Spain

Brazil star Vinicius Jr broke down in tears as he spoke at a national team press conference about the racist abuse he has suffered in some Spanish stadiums.

The Real Madrid star spoke ahead of a friendly against Spain in his club stadium Santiago Bernabeu which has been arranged in the fight against racism. The fixture has been arranged under the slogan "One Skin". Vinicius Junior has suffered some sickening abuse in La Liga, with one game in particular against Valencia sparking worldwide outrage.

And the Brazilian ace was in floods of tears in front of the assembled media - who applauded him after he broke down - as he said: "I have never thought about leaving Spain, because that would be giving the racists what they want. I'm not going to leave the best club in the world. I'm going to remain firm and strong because the president and the club support me. I'm sorry I just want to play football, do everything for my club and my family, never see black people suffering."

Earlier, Spain defender and Vini's Real Madrid team-mate Dani Carvajal said Spain is not a racist country. He said: "I don't think Spain is a racist country. We have a very high level of integration, I come from a humble neighbourhood, Leganes, and grew up with boys of all types of nationalities. I have a lot of friends with different colour skin."
