Vince McMahon was pitched to be the leader of infamous WWE faction in 2020

Vince McMahon, and several other major WWE Superstars, were pitched to be the leaders of the RETRIBUTION faction in 2020, it has been claimed.

The RETRIBUTION faction, an invading force that looked to take over WWE, was one of several ideas that the company came up with during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group consisted of T-Bar, Mace, Slapjack and Reckoning (Dominik Dijakovic, Dio Maddin, Shane Thorne and Mia Yim), with Mustafa Ali later being revealed as the leader.

The faction stayed together for under a year before disbanding, with Slapjack and Reckoning no longer working for WWE.

In a new interview with Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Shane Thorne/Slapjack spoke about the pitches that were put forward by the group.

Thorne explained that Ali wasn’t always planned to be RETRIBUTION’s leader, so much so that the group had far more ambitious goals in mind for the front runner of the faction.

The former WWE Superstar said that the group suggested that Edge, Shane McMahon and even Vince McMahon would be the leaders of the faction, before the decision was made to go with Ali.

We pitched ideas to have a lot of different people as the leader like Shane McMahon, Edge, or someone higher. We pitched for Vince to be the leader as well. We went as high as possible with who the leader would be. We wanted to be attached with one of the main characters

Speaking of Vince McMahon, reports have claimed that the WWE Chairman will be wrestling for the first time since 2012 at WrestleMania 38 in April.

If reports are to be believed, the 76-year-old will be dusting off his boots and stepping back into the wrong with former NFL star and current SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee.
