Vince McMahon retires: One of his last decisions as WWE CEO revealed

Vince McMahon left the wrestling world in a state of flux last night by announcing that he was retiring from WWE.

Vince made wrestling what it is today after taking over WWE from his father in 1982, and for the first time in 40 years, he’s now out of power in the company.

Vince’s influence cannot be denied, so the 76-year-old’s departure from WWE is arguably the most industry-changing announcement in wrestling history.

McMahon will no longer serve as WWE’s Chairman, with the new Chairwoman being announced as his daughter, Stephanie McMahon.

Stephanie will also serve as WWE’s co-CEO, a role she’ll share with Nick Khan. Bruce Prichard will take over from McMahon as Head of Creative, according to reports.

McMahon may no longer be in control of WWE, but his fingerprints were still all over last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

During the show, Maxxine Dupri (Sofia Cromwell from NXT 2.0) debuted as part of the Maximum Male Models segment.

Max Durpi (formerly LA Knight) was absent from the segment, and the reason for that has now emerged, and it’s linked to Vince McMahon.

PWTorch is reporting that Durpi is not going to be part of the faction moving forward, with Maxine now replacing him as essentially the group’s figurehead.

The decision was reportedly made a few weeks ago, with Dupri being aware last week that he was not going to be part of the group moving forwards.

The decision, which was one of Vince’s last as Head of WWE Creative, was made because it was deemed that Dupri was “rubbing people the wrong way” and didn’t fit the group.

Max Dupri, sources indicate, had rubbed some people the wrong way and wasn’t fitting in so a decision was made by Vince McMahon a couple weeks ago to write him out of the storyline.
