Village school battling strict planning rules to have teaching 'pod' built

A quaint village primary school in Derbyshire is on the verge of acquiring a modern "pod" as a solution for its space constraints, instead of a conventional building extension, due to its restricted site and the presence of a historic neighbouring church.

Middleton Community Primary School, located in Main Street, Middleton-by-Wirksworth, with 94 pupils, requires additional teaching space.

However, the school's site poses significant limitations, coupled with its location within a conservation area and across from the Grade-II listed Holy Trinity Church.
