Viljami Sinisalo linked with Celtic transfer as Nat Phillips opens up on Liverpool reality – Parkhead news bulletin

Viljami Sinisalo is the latest name to be linked with the job of replacing Joe Hart as Celtic No1 next season.

The Aston Villa goalie - who has spent the season in English League One with Exeter City - has reportedly impressed Brendan Rodgers as he ups his search to fill his goalkeeper ranks. It is a priority position for the Hoops this summer with fringe pair Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist still on the books as back-up options. The 22-year-old has been on the books at Villa Park for a number of years with interest high in his services as he enters the final year of his current terms.

The Sun state Unai Emery and his Champions League hopefuls face a fight to retain the services of Sinisalo due to the interest coming out of Parkhead. It's believed the £3million-rated Sinisalo also has a number of English Championship clubs keen on his services after an impressing season-long loan with 50 appearances in all competitions under his belt under former Hoops defender Gary Caldwell - who was his boss during his stint with Exeter City in England's third tier. .

Meanwhile. former Celtic loanee Nat Phillips admits he faces an uncertain future at Liverpool beyond the summer. The defender was snapped up as cover for the first half of the season at Parkhead amid a defensive crisis with that deal expiring in January. He then moved to Cardiff City for the second half of the campaign and has not ruled out the chance of joining the Bluebirds full-time.

He told the Liverpool Echo : “There's a lot of change going on at Liverpool so there's a lot up in the air there. They've got a lot to sort out themselves. I had a brief conversation with the loan manager at Liverpool [about pre-season]. There's so much going on at the club.
