Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst has handed a few chances to some of the younger players in his squad since arriving at Ibrox, with the likes of Leon King and Alex Lowry making first-team appearances.

The latter played and scored in a 4-0 win in the Scottish Cup last month, showing that the Dutch head coach is willing to give minutes to academy players.

He also bolstered his squad by bringing in a youngster from another club. The Gers brought in teenage forward Amad Diallo on loan from Premier League giants Manchester United in January and he has struggled to make a major impact on the side.

The wide man threatened to hit the ground running after scoring just minutes into his debut against Ross County, but has been unable to kick on since his strike.

Diallo has played four Premiership games and is yet to show off his quality. As per SofaScore, he has created two chances and missed one big chance, whilst losing a whopping 71% of his duels overall. This suggests that he has struggled with the physicality of Scottish football as he has been outmuscled too often in the early stages of his Ibrox career.

Instead of developing a teenage winger from another club, van Bronckhorst must unearth academy prospect Arron Lyall and offer him a chance to show what he can do in the first-team as Diallo is not delivering the goods as it stands.

Football Insider previously reported that academy chief Graham Murty was impressed by the youngster and had high hopes for him to make the first team at Ibrox.

He has been unable to make the step up as of yet but has plenty of time left to do it at the age of 18. Lyall was, however, given the chance to go and play first-team football last year.
