Victoria in exclusive negotiations to host 2026 Commonwealth Games
Victoria is likely to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with Premier Daniel Andrews confirming the state government is in exclusive negotiations with the organising body.
Mr Andrews said the games and a simultaneous arts and culture festival would reassert that Victoria was the sporting capital of the country.
«These will be games like no others and that will be great for regional Victoria, great for the state, for jobs, for investments, for confidence,» he said.
Mr Andrews said that the event would be a «predominantly a regional Victorian Commonwealth Games» and would include large amounts of investment into the regions.
More to come.
