Vicente Besuijen has Aberdeen FC fans all saying the same thing as first Emmen goal greeted by 'beer shower"

Vicente Besuijen showed Aberdeen fans what they are missing after bagging his first goal for FC Emmen last night.

The 22-year-old fell out of favour under both Jim Goodwin and Barry Robson at Pittodrie, spending the second half of last season in an injury hit loan spell with Eredivisie side Excelsior. After failing to force his way into first team reckoning in the current campaign, the Dutchman headed back to his homeland to join up with Emmen for the remainder of the season last month.

And in just his fifth outing for the second tier side, the winger opened his account with Emmen's first goal in their 2-0 away win against league leaders Willem II. Besuijen got on the scoresheet with 21 minutes on the clock and was serenaded with a beer shower by the travelling Emmen support before Bradly van Hoeven wrapped up the points with a minute to go in the second half.

The victory has moved The Kannibals up to 10th position in the Eeerste Divisie standings and just four points outside of the promotion play-off places. Speaking to local media outlet RTVdrenthe after the game, the Dons loanee was delighted to register his first goal for his new club but insists that there is more to come. He said: "I am very grateful for that. Hard work is always rewarded. And now on to more, for the team and for myself."

Besuijen sealed a £500,000 switch to Aberdeen from ADO Den Haag in January 2022 during Stephen Glass' short tenure in the dugout. He went onto net nine times in 42 appearances for the Dons before suddenly being frozen out of the first team picture by Irishman Goodwin and then his replacement Robson.
