Viaplay Cup Draw: Motherwell and Airdrie face Premiership sides in last 16
Motherwell and Airdrieonians will face Premiership opposition in the last 16 of the Viaplay Cup next month.
Both of the Lanarkshire sides topped their sections in the group stages of the competition and face tough tests to reach the quarter-finals.
The Steelmen booked their place in the last 16 as a seeded side yesterday, thanks to a 3-0 win over East Fife in which Lennon Miller, Conor Wilkinson and Callum Slattery were all on target.
And they will be reunited with former boss Stephen Robinson when they travel to face his St Mirren side next month.
Meanwhile, Championship side Airdrie - who topped Group E with four wins from four and are the only side with a perfect group stage record - will face a home tie against Premiership side Ross County, who won Group D.
The last 16 ties will take place on the weekend of August 19/20.
The other Lanarkshire sides in the competition, Hamilton Accies and Albion Rovers, bowed out in the group stages after coming up short.
