Vernon Kay shares 'last day' news as he's left 'emotional' after Zoe Ball's exit
Vernon Kay spoke about his "last day" on BBC Radio 2 before Christmas and admitted there was "lots of emotion" in the wake of Zoe Ball's exit from the show.
Last month, Vernon highlighted a sweet message sent in by a Radio 2 listener who'd decided to make a donation to Paddy McGuinness' recent cycling challenge for Children in Need.
Nanny Gwyneth donated £30 on behalf of her three grandsons, Joshua, Oliver and Thomas, as she wanted them to know that it's "easy to inspire and think of others when they're old enough to understand".
Vernon found the message touching and even asked somebody to "pass the tissues" live on air. The former Family Fortunes star welcomed Nanny Gwyneth onto the show today for a chat.
After they exchanged a jovial 'bore da' and Vernon asked if she was feeling well, Nanny Gwyneth said: "Well, I was going to say, 'What's occurring?'"
Vernon replied: "Oh, it's all good. There's lots of emotion flying around. It's Zoe's last day. It's my last day before Christmas, so we're all in a festive mood. We're all feeling pretty good; I'll be honest with you, Nanny Gwyneth."
Nanny Gwyneth then wished Zoe her best wishes, with Vernon revealing that his former Radio 2 colleague would have likely heard her kind message because she was in the corridor at the time.
Zoe announced that she would be leaving the Radio 2 show in November after "six incredible years", explaining that she would be stepping away from the "very early mornings" to "focus on family", reports the BBC.
The 54-year-old presenter, who will give her morning slot to fellow radio star Scott Mills, was today spotted leaving the studio for the final time after hosting her last show.
