Van Bronckhorst will be gutted, final straw for Morelos; Pundit expects 29 y/o exit - opinion

Pundit Kris Commons has claimed that there will be an acceptance at Rangers regarding the transfer of Connor Goldson away from the club.

Goldson signed for Rangers in 2018 from Brighton & Hove Albion, and he has been a mainstay in the side ever since, he has made 221 appearances in all competitions, including 38 in the Scottish Premiership last season in Rangers’ unbeaten title-winning campaign.

With the English defender’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, there have been no talks that he will put pen to paper and extend his stay at the club.

After it has all gone quiet regarding contract talks with Goldson, Commons wrote on The Daily Mail, via Daily Record, that he believes the defender will have something sorted elsewhere.

“It’s all gone quiet with regards to his future and I strongly suspect there’s now an acceptance that he will be moving on as a free agent in the summer.

“The fact that he has allowed his contract to run down this far into the season tells me one thing – he’s almost certainly got something sorted elsewhere.

“Some people might think the incentive of Champions League football would convince him to stay, but I disagree. It looks to me like his mind is already made up,” Commons said.

Goldson has been vital for Rangers this season, in the SPL he has the highest amount of accurate passes on average per game (62.1), he averages the most clearances per game (3.4) and he has the fifth-highest average player rating (7.18), as per Sofascore.

It would be a massive loss for Van Bronckhorst if Goldson was to part ways with the club in the summer, especially because it would be on a free transfer with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

He may be a defender hard to replace for a low
