Valorant: Update 5.0 patch notes, release date, trailer and more

Valorant has reached Episode 5, and it’s been a while since Riot Games updated its popular competitive FPS game with a new map.

That will soon change, as map number eight, dubbed ‘Pearl,’ is finally here. Pearl has its dedicated queue to allow players to acquire a feel for the map before diving in.

Valorant celebrated its second anniversary this month. The developers have worked hard to keep the game enjoyable and intriguing for the gamers since its release in 2020. To that end, with each new update, they have come up with new maps, Agents, and other interesting new features.

Pearl, like past map launches, won’t be available in competitive play for a few weeks. So in the meantime, let’s find out when the map’s release date is.

On Omega Earth, a pearl is set beneath the Portuguese seas. There are no unusual mechanics, such as doors or teleporters, according to Riot, and only three standard lanes – one small-mid lane and two long-range lanes on the sides. On this two-site map, however, there is a vertical element, as Attackers must drop into Defender territory.

Pearl will also have murals by Portuguese muralists, and the map’s soundtrack will be a piece of classic Portuguese fado performed by local artists, in keeping with its Portuguese roots.
