V Rising: Steam hit passes 1 million sales

V Rising has hit 1 million copies sold in a week.

The new vampire game entered into Steam Early Access last week and has now hit a huge new sales milestone, as per GameSpot.

V Rising is something of a hybrid when it comes to its style, as you will wake up as a vampire and aim to become the next Dracula.

Players have to consume blood, hide from the sun, fight their way through the world, and it also takes in base-building mechanics as well.

It’s a huge RPG in both scope and reality and it isn’t even released yet, with the game srill in Early Access.

Still, it recently set a concurrent player number of over 150,000, placing it above the likes of Elden Ring and GTA V on the Steam database.

V Rising is not free, either, as players need to pay over £15 to get the game into their Steam library.

Developer Stunlock have previously revealed their surprise at the success of their new launch, given that there was not all that much interest in the game after its announcement earlier this year.

Still, they have had previous success when it comes to releasing games onto Steam.

Their previous game was titled Battlerite, and was a free-to-play team-based action game. You were essentially placed into battle arenas online and were tasked with fighting off opponents for as long as possible.

That game released in 2016 and has now surpassed 6 million unique players on PC.

Of course, the fact that it’s free makes any comparison somewhat flawed, but it is a real milestone for V Rising to hit 1 million sales in a single week.

It remains to be seen what kind of legs the game has, but one has to expect that this kind of success will carry over into the eventual full release.
