The £336million losses Arsenal have made on sales in the last six years

While Arsenal have been criticised for their poor recruitment in recent years, they’ve also struggled to make a profit on their players. 

Academy products like Joe Willock and Alex Iwobi have helped generate money but a lot of their signings decreased in value during their time at the Emirates.

We’ve looked at the 19 players Arsenal have sold at a loss in the last six years. Note: we’ve only included players that made a loss of at least £500k.

Having scored 37 goals in 45 appearances for Lyon in 2016-17, expectations were high when Lacazette completed a £46.5million move to Arsenal.

He failed to replicate that form in an Arsenal shirt but still scored a respectable 71 goals in 206 appearances and also won their Player of the Season award in 2018-19. 

The France international decided to leave north London at the expiry of his contract in 2022 and then rejoined Lyon on a free transfer.

After Chambers developed a promising reputation at Southampton, Arsenal signed the then 19-year-old for £16million in the summer of 2014.

The striker justified the price tag by scoring 92 goals in 163 appearances in all competitions, including the winner in the 2020 FA Cup final.
