Urgent warning to passengers as NO Avanti trains to run on Wednesday

Rail passengers have been issued an urgent warning as no Avanti West Coast trains will run on Wednesday because of continuing strike action.

The train operating company has issued travel advice for commuters ahead of the latest industrial action by ASLEF, which it says will 'significantly disrupt services'. Passengers are now being told not to travel.

Avanti, which runs trains to and from London Euston from Manchester Piccadilly, has confirmed no trains will run on October 4 'to and from all destinations across the network'.

In a statement, the company said: "On Wednesday 4 October, members of the train driver's union, ASLEF, will go on strike and customers are being told not to attempt travel because Avanti West Coast will be unable to run any services.

"With no trains running to and from all destinations across the network during the ASLEF industrial action, customers are advised to claim a refund, seek alternative transport, or rearrange journeys for another date.

"Many destinations on the West Coast Main Line will have no rail connectivity on 4 October and rail replacement services will not be in place either.

"Customers with tickets for 4 October (purchased before 15 September) can claim a full fee-free refund from their point of purchase. Alternatively, tickets dated 4 October can be used on Tuesday 3 October or up to and including Friday 6 October.

"Wednesday’s walkout follows the start of ASLEF members carrying out action short of a strike, which involves withdrawing from working overtime from Monday 2 until Friday 6 October. Customers
