Update on Stevens and Osborn is shared ahead of Sheffield United’s clash with Huddersfield

Sheffield United assistant manager Stuart McCall has revealed that whilst Enda Stevens has suffered a minor setback in his road to recovery from injury, Ben Osborn is currently making progress with his rehabilitation.

Stevens is currently being forced to watch on from the sidelines as a result of an issue with his calf.

Having missed the Blades’ league clashes with Luton Town, Peterborough United, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion, the defender will be unable to feature in tomorrow’s showdown with Huddersfield Town.

As for Osborn, he will be hoping to force his way back into the club’s starting eleven when he is fit enough to feature again.

Although the 27-year-old has made 24 appearances for the Blades in all competitions this season, he hasn’t started a league game since their 3-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in November.

By securing victory in their meeting with Huddersfield tomorrow, Paul Heckingbottom’s side will move to within a point of their opponents in the Championship standings.

Ahead of this fixture, McCall has shared an update on Stevens and Osborn.

Speaking in the club’s pre-match press conference (as cited by Yorkshire Live) about when this particular duo could return to senior action, McCall said: “Next few weeks I would hope.

“Ossie [is] out on the grass working really hard, ahead of Enda, he [Stevens] had a minor setback with a little issue but hopefully one that won’t keep him out for too long.

“At this stage it’s about getting a little luck and not pushing players too hard.

“With all the games coming up, if you play them too much you can set them back.”
