University women’s soccer championship comes to Hamilton this week
Need a new sports championship to quell your World Series withdrawal?
McMaster University in Hamilton will host top university teams for the 2025 U Sports Women’s Soccer Championship this week.
The games, which will be broadcast by CBC Sports, start Thursday and go to Sunday, with the championship game being played 5 p.m. that day.
According to the McMaster Marauders website, eight teams will compete for the Gladys Bean Memorial Trophy. They are seeded as follows:
The UBC Thunderbirds are competing for a third straight national title and have only surrendered one goal all season, McMaster said in a news release Sunday. A victory would make them “the first program in modern U Sports women’s soccer history to three-peat.”
The McMaster Marauders are making their first national championship appearance since 2018, when they finished fourth.
Games will be viewable on CBC.ca/sports, the CBC Sports YouTube and CBC Gem app.
Teams will compete in Ron Joyce Stadium. Tickets range from $5 to $25 depending on the day and ticket type.
