Understanding Aberdeen fans back 'frustrated' ticket office manager as he apologises for Viaplay Cup Final error

Understanding Aberdeen fans have backed the club's ticket office manager after he apologised for an error with their Viaplay Cup Final ticket sales system.

The Dons were left unhappy after being refused a 50/50 split for the Hampden showdown against Rangers on 17 December. The SPFL cited previous attendances at semi-finals and finals as a factor in their decision to hand the Dandies just 19,500 briefs compared to Gers' 25,000. Aberdeen's initial 17,000 allocation was snapped up quickly, but club chiefs soon realised something wasn't right, and launched a probe after cheeky Light Blues fans claimed to have bought tickets in the Dons end.

Now TO manager Jamie Howell has taken to social media in order to post an apology. He posted: "Frustrated & disappointed that my error has caused such disruption & fallout this week. It's a rule I've set on the system for online sales so many times I've lost count, and i know the importance of it. To all Dandies who have been affected by this I am genuinely sorry.

"There's obviously never a good time for this to happen, but a National Cup Final when I'm on paternity leave is up there with the worst We'll continue the work on this and the waiting list for additional tickets so that we can all look forward to our 1st final since 2018.

"Very thankful to my amazing Ticketing team as well as the fantastic people around the club who have helped with the checks & processes to get back on track. Especially Alan Burrows and John Chalmers. Also very grateful to have such an understanding & supportive wife & family. "

The response from fans was overwhelmingly sympathetic. One replied: "Don't worry Jamie, mistakes happen. Coming on here and owning this when you don't need to is commendable."
