UFC star Jorge Masvidal makes Tommy Fury suggestion if KSI fight plan collapses

Jorge Masvidal has suggested he would be willing to step in for Tommy Fury if the planned fight between him and KSI doesn't take place, but the former UFC welterweight doubts the YouTuber would accept the challenge.

The 38-year-old former UFC star hung up his gloves earlier this year after a run of four successive defeats since a 2019 fighter-of-the-year showing that earned him two world title opportunities. He was held to a decision loss against Kamaru Usman on short notice in 2020, before being knocked out in their rematch and losing to Colby Covington and Gilbert Burns.

However, he revealed during an appearance on The MMA Hour that he wouldn't be averse to making his boxing debut if KSI and Manchester boxer Fury can't reach an agreement. Masvidal runs his own boxing company Gamebred Promotions, and has previously put on a pay-per-view show headlined by Roy Jones Jr and Anthony Pettis.

“I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think that dude would ever take the fight,” Masvidal told the MMA Hour (via the Mirror). “Are you kidding me? Hell no bro, are you kidding me? That dude’s not trying to die on TV, he’s not. He’s fighting other dudes and he’s barely surviving, you think he’s going to get in there with me?

“What does this guy do for a living? Like I said, the fights that I want, this guy’s been here for two, three, four, or five years, come over [into the octagon], please. Wait, that’s the dude throwing elbows in boxing right? That dude’s wilding out but that guy doesn’t want to die. He would hit me with that elbow, and I’d just wink at him, like you’re dead.”
