UFC's Mark Madsen: Henry Cejudo is definitely 'coming back sooner than later'

Mark Madsen is thriving off the energy at Fight Ready MMA & Fitness.

Of course, it can’t be too bad rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jon Jones, Jiri Prochazka and Weili Zhang on a daily basis.

A native of Denmark, Madsen recently relocated to the United States, where he spends most of his time training with former UFC champion Henry Cejudo.

Cejudo, who won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, fought professionally between 2013 and 2020, winning 16 of his 18 fights having also competed as a wrestler.

It’s something which they share in common, with the pair winning a host of medals between them before making the transition from wrestling to mixed martial arts.

Now reunited with Cejudo at his gym in Arizona, Madsen feels he is in the right place to take his career to the next level.

“I think the bar is set very high,” he exclusively told GiveMeSport.com on behalf of VegasInsider. “So expectations are very high, the pressures are very high.

“This team is all about winning. Everybody in the team, around the team, you know, is here for one thing, and that is winning. So it is pretty amazing here because I get pushed every single day.

“I mean, I get challenged on decisions, I get challenged on all of the actions that I’m doing here.

“This is a team that’s all about winning. And I think moving to Arizona was the right move in terms of maximising the potential of MMA.”

Asked if Cejudo has any plans to return to the cage, he replied: “I can’t give any spoilers but I personally believe he’s coming back sooner than later.”

Despite currently being undefeated, Madsen also says he’s not putting any pressure on himself.
