UFC legend announces he will fight Chael Sonnen again in early 2023

UFC veteran Tito Ortiz has seemingly confirmed that he will fight Chael Sonnen in a rematch next year.

When it comes to eccentric figures in the world of mixed martial arts, it’s tough to find fighters quite as intriguing as Tito Ortiz and Chael Sonnen.

Both men, in their own right, achieved a lot of success in the sport, and they’ve both left a lasting legacy – whether it be due to their personalities, fight styles or some of the feuds they engaged in.

In the present day they’ve gone down very different paths, with Ortiz testing the waters in politics and pro boxing whereas Sonnen has opted to become a full-time analyst through his YouTube channel and work with ESPN.

Of course, we all know that fighting spirit doesn’t go away overnight, and it often takes years for active competitors to fully transition away from the cage or the squared circle.

As it turns out, both individuals appear to feel like they’ve still got something left to prove, which is why Ortiz made the following announcement during a recent podcast appearance.

“I’ll be competing one last time in the beginning of February, Tito Ortiz vs Chael Sonnen number two will be happening for Freedom Fight Night. I’m excited, I’m really excited. In mixed martial arts, not boxing, in mixed martial arts. At 205.”

This would serve as the first MMA fight for Ortiz since his win over Alberto Del Rio in late 2019, with Sonnen’s last bout being a TKO defeat at the hands of ​​Lyoto Machida earlier that same year.
