UFC: Kevin Holland wants to ‘stay away’ from Khamzat Chimaev

UFC star Kevin Holland has admitted that he wants to stay away from Khamzat Chimaev after their showdown at UFC 279.

When it comes to eccentric fighters on the UFC roster, and in mixed martial arts as a whole, they don’t get much better than Kevin Holland.

The man known as ‘Trailblazer’ has already done some pretty remarkable things during his career – from winning five UFC fights in a calendar year to becoming a part-time superhero, stopping crimes as if he’s Spider-Man.

Of course, the most important thing is that he keeps himself in the win column, which he was able to do this year by putting together back-to-back welterweight successes after a three-fight winless streak in 2021.

At UFC 279, he was initially supposed to battle Daniel Rodriguez - only for a parade of issues, predominantly Khamzat Chimaev missing weight, leading to the card being completely changed.

It was apt for Holland to take on ‘Borz’ given that they’d gotten into a scuffle earlier on during fight week and in a recent interview, he spoke candidly about what exactly went down.

“I pushed [Khamzat] Chimaev, Chimaev threw a push kick, it hit me, and I got mad because it almost f***ed up the Burberry. You can’t mess with a man’s Burberry, so I got a little p***ed off.”

“Chimaev just keeps whooping my ass. I might want to stay away from that guy. That’s why I was going to retire, I could post all the memes I want with no repercussions. But now I’m back, so I got all the repercussions, so I’d better watch myself.”

Chimaev wound up submitting Holland in just over two minutes in Las Vegas.
