UEFA told to intervene and stop Rangers campaign of 'intimidation' as Hotline gets tired of Penaltygate

Rangers have taken the shock step of asking Hampden bosses to stand down Willie Collum from all future games involving Phillippe Clement’s side following his part in the Parkhead penalty row.

But the Hotline outcry in response was nothing but predictable as fans from both sides of Glasgow’s divide rushed to have their say. Eddie Easson, Ballingry, added: “Penalty-gate is now getting ridiculous. Rangers want to pick and choose who referees their games. How they would love to run Scottish football. Right enough, they have the experience of putting one club to the wall.”

Neil Renton, Leith, was next on the blower: “I don’t envy Clement’s job. Not only does he have to pick his starting XI every week, but he’ll also now have to select the match officials!” Rab Mack, Edinburgh, said: “Why are Rangers so uptight about Willie Collum, he’s the man who once awarded a penalty to them at Celtic Park when he had his back to the play. Wee Willie has probably won them more points over the years than Super Ally.”

Henry Moffat, Stirling, added: “Uefa and the police need to step in and demand the SFA throw Rangers out of Scottish football for the rest of the season for the disgraceful intimidation of Willie Column. How can any referee now be expected to give decisions against them in games without fear of this pathetic bullying by a club who simply cannot handle being second best?”
