Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte: Frank Warren expects the Gypsy King to 'make a statement'

Tyson Fury can’t wait to get his hands on Dillian Whyte according to the Gypsy King’s promoter Frank Warren.

Fury, 33, will be fighting on home soil for the first time in four years when he takes on British rival Whyte later this month at Wembley Stadium on April 23.

A record British boxing crowd will flock to the home of English football to watch the duo fight it out for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world.

94,000 fans can now enjoy watching Fury defend his WBC belt against Whyte after additional seats were approved by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

And Warren – who has promoted Fury since his return to the ring in 2018 – is expecting him to rise to the big occasion against Whyte.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Warren said: “Tyson is absolutely champing at the bit.

“He wants to make a statement in front of a record crowd on April 23 and I believe he will.

“This country has never seen anything like Tyson Fury before.

“He’s just had an epic trilogy with the hardest hitting heavyweight of all time and come out on top.

“He will be determined to put on a show and give every paying fan a night they will never forget.”

Like Warren, British boxing legend Ricky Hatton, who is a friend of the Fury family, also expects it to be a tough day at the office for Whyte.

He told talkSPORT: “I think he has to go for the knockout.

“Let’s have it right, he’s not going to outbox Tyson Fury, he’s not going to outspeed Tyson Fury.

“Tyson, for a giant, 6ft 10in, is so versatile. He showed in his last fight [against Deontay Wilder] and previous fights, that he can stand close and mix it up. He can box southpaw, he can box orthodox, he can box from a distance, he’s great defensively.
