Heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury returned to the ring Saturday to defend his WBC title against fellow countryman Dillian Whyte. It was the fifth time in heavyweight history a title fight featured two boxers from England per ESPN Stats and Information. The champion retained their belt in the previous four instances.
It was the first time Fury fought someone other than Deontay Wilder since September 2019. For Whtye, it was long-awaited shot at a title. It took over 1,500 days for him to get this opportunity. The fight was entertaining through six, but it went no further. Fury defeated Whyte with an uppercut in the round. It's his 33rd career win, second-most without a loss by a British heavyweight champion. After the fight, Fury made it seem like it was the final one of his career.
