Tyson Fury's dad receives new demand ahead of Oleksandr Usyk rematch

Carl Froch believes Tyson Fury’s father, John, should maintain a distance from his son’s forthcoming rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The pair are set to clash for the second time on December 21 in Riyadh following their first encounter in May, where Usyk dealt ‘The Gypsy King’ his first professional defeat through a split decision. This victory crowned Usyk as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

John Fury, who was present in Tyson’s corner during the May bout, faced heavy criticism for his advice. Following the fight, figures such as boxing great Ricky Hatton suggested Tyson should consider removing his father from his training team ahead of the rematch.

Froch has now shared his views on his official YouTube channel, remarking: "Tyson probably knows that actually, 'Listen, dad. I love you to bits. I know you've got my best intentions at heart, and you want me to win and you want me to do the business, but do me a favour, stay out of the way, shut the f*** up'.

"It's probably a little more than that. But they don't need big John Fury in the ring, do they? They don't need him here. So, if he surfaces his head fight week, I'll be shocked. If he's in the corner, I mean you've got Andy Lee and SugarHill. Two very experienced guys at world level who know the game inside-out. You don't need big John Fury in the corner.

"So, hopefully, (John) Fury just sits back, keeps his mouth shut, watches his son, and wills him on to win. Maybe he's in the camp; maybe he's helping him and keeping the distance
