Tyson Fury next fight options are clear after Anthony Joshua new message

Tyson Fury has found himself in a difficult position within the heavyweight division, with many of his rivals having had fights negotiated while the WBC heavyweight champion could face a long wait to re-enter the ring.

His failure to agree a deal to face Oleksandr Usyk has led to some criticism of the 34-year-old and in the wake of another failed fight agreement with Anthony Joshua, there are some question marks surrounding his next move. Joshua did call out the undefeated champion following his win against Jermaine Franklin, but 'AJ' is now expected to fight this summer against Dillian Whyte.

Fury had named Joe Joyce as an alternative to Usyk after beating Derek Chisora in December. However, Joyce will take on Zilei Zhang for the WBO interim title which would make the winner a mandatory challenger to the title which is held by Usyk.

This would leave Fury without the prospect of being able to face either of his first choices and could lead to a delay in his next fight until after the summer. There remain other options for Fury, with the prospect of a fourth fight against Deontay Wilder being an option with both fighters being available and having made hints during their meeting in Saudi Arabia at Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul.

WBA (Regular) World Champion Dubois is the mandatory challenger for the WBA (Super) heavyweight title held by Usyk. That fight has now been ordered following the breakdown in talks for Usyk to face Fury and this would leave the winner well placed to fight against Fury later this year should there be willingness from Usyk's camp to restart negotiations.
