Tyrone's Conor Meyler sues Irish Post for defamation

Tyrone senior intercounty footballer Conor Meyler has taken a defamation action against the Irish Post over an article published in January this year.

Mr Meyler is taking action against the Irish Post Media Ltd and has joined the parent company, The Color Company (TM) Ltd, Poland Street, London, England, as a co-defendant in the case.

At the High Court on Monday, Ray Motherway BL, instructed by P.A. Duffy & Co Solicitors, successfully applied to Mr Justice Barry O'Donnell to have the Color Company joined as co-defendants and opened papers in the case.

In papers lodged with the High Court, Mr Meyler, an All-Ireland winner in 2021, is described as a "PhD researcher in Sport Leadership and Gender, a graduate of UCD and Maynooth University, a member of Tyrone's senior GAA football team, a media personality and an advocate for gender equality issues within the GAA".

Mr Meyler alleges that the Irish Post - with a registered office at Loane, Administration Buildings, IMI, Sandyford, Dublin 16 - published an article in January 2025 which allegedly contained details about him that were untrue.

As a result, Mr Meyler claims to have suffered loss, damage, inconvenience, expense, distress, embarrassment, annoyance, and anxiety.

Mr Justice O'Donnell allowed the joining of Color Company as a co-defendant and adjourned the matter generally.
